Peach Parade to contain familiar sights, excitement

The annual Peach Parade will feature little changes this year, according to officials.
“We’re going to have roughly around 50 entrants,” said Clanton PD officer David Hicks, who is in charge of the event.
The parade’s route will follow its usual course, starting in the Fred’s parking lot near Clanton City Park on U.S. 31 before making its way to Jackson Avenue, up through Sixth Street and Third Avenue North, before winding back to Clanton City Park for the Peach Auction.
While Hicks encouraged all to come out and have a good time, he did stress the importance of safety.
“Parents need to monitor their kids when they go to pick up candy,” he said. “The vision is limited in some of these floats, and it makes it hard to see [certain things in the road].”
Hicks said intersections will start shutting down around 8:45 a.m., and the parade will start at 9.
