A man was arrested Tuesday and charged in connection with a burglaries at two Clanton businesses.
Wesley Quinn Pettus, 41, of Florence, was charged with two counts of third-degree burglary, two counts of first-degree theft of property and criminal mischief. As of Wednesday morning, he was in the Chilton County Jail without bond.
Pettus allegedly broke into Dillard Smith Construction Company and Mark’s Auto and Towing and took several items along with a company truck on two different occasions.
Pettus has outstanding warrants in Florence and will face extradition once a bond has been set in the Clanton crimes, according to Detective Robert Bland.
Bland and Detective Cameron Bates were able to identify Pettus from local and out-of-county gas station surveillance video.
“Both detectives did a great job in following the bread crumbs to Pettus,” said Capt. David Clackley.
