Louis Jay Serafin Jr., age 69 of Thorsby, passed away on June 24, 2012, at the V.A. Medical Center in Birmingham.

He was born in Massachusetts on Nov. 19, 1942, the son of the late Louis Jay Serafin Sr. and the late Odette LeVesque.

He was a truck driver.

He is survived by: daughter, Candace (Robert) Hight of Thorsby; daughter, Michelle (Robert) Rivera of St. Cloud, Fla.; granddaughter, Amanda Hight of Thorsby; grandson, Cole Hight of Thorsby; grandson, Brandon Hight of Thorsby; granddaughter, Faith Rivera of St. Cloud, Fla.; and brother, Frank Serafin of Georgia.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 28 at 11 a.m. from Clanton First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Anderson officiating.

The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.

Burial will follow the service at 2:45 p.m. at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo.
