If nothing says summer in Chilton County like the sweet taste of local peach, a round of golf might run a close second.

The Clanton Country Club is hosting its annual Peach Classic Invitational Saturday and Sunday as part of the annual Peach Festival.

Participation in the two-person, 36-hole scramble tournament costs $120 per person.

Applications are available at the country club or online at clantoncountryclub.com, club member Dennis Cobb said.

“We have about 25 teams signed up right now, and we would love to have 40,” Cobb said Thursday.

The entry fee includes cart, lunch on Saturday and Sunday, and heavy hors d’oeuvres Saturday night.

Also, family members of participants will have pool/pavilion access.

Prize money will be awarded for the top three places in each flight. There will also be prize money for closest to the pin on holes No. 2 and 6, and for the longest drive on hole No. 8.
