All-star teams competing in state tournaments

Local all-star baseball and softball teams are in the heat of the tournament season.
Several local teams—from the Clanton and North Chilton leagues—are participating in state tournaments, most of which begin on a Thursday or Friday and last through the weekend.

List below are teams that are still competing:
Clanton baseball
•5-year-old all-stars will play in their state tournament this weekend in Wilsonville.
•6-year-olds will play next weekend in Wilsonville.
•7-year-olds play next weekend in Gardendale.
•9-year-olds play the weekend of July 7.
•The 11-year-old and 12-year-old teams have qualified for their respective state tournaments, but league President Nathan Emmerich said dates and locations are yet to be determined.
•The 14-year-old team will host its state tournament in Clanton the weekend of June 29. “We’ll have a total of 14-16 teams playing here,” Emmerich said. “It will be pretty good for us.”
Clanton softball
•The 8-and-under team finished second in its area tournament in Alabaster, qualifying for the state tournament to be played starting Thursday in Liberty Park in Vestavia Hills.
North Chilton baseball
•The 5-year-old team is playing in its state tournament beginning Friday night.
•10-year-olds begin their area tournament Friday night in Leeds, and they need to finish in the top three to qualify for the state tournament.
•11-year-olds won their regional tournament Monday night and start the state tournament on June 29 in Columbiana.
•12-year-olds finished third in their district tournament and will start area play Friday night in Jemison.
•14-year-olds will compete in the state tournament on June 29 in Clanton.
North Chilton softball
•The 6-and-under team finished third in its area and began state tournament play Thursday night at Liberty Park.
•The 10-and-under team finished second in its area and also began state tournament play Thursday night at Liberty Park.
