Samuel David Headley

Samuel David Headley, 91, of Verbena died Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at Chilton Medical Center in Clanton.

He was born on Thursday, June 24, 1920, in Chilton County, son of the late Lonzo Headley and the late Lula Henley Headley.

He was a peach farmer.

Surviving are his wife, Gladys Headley of Verbena; two daughters, Earlene (Gleemon) Ray of Thorsby and Pauline (Jerry) Jones of Alto, Ga.; two sons, Eugene Headley of Cooper and Paul (Nita) Headley of Clanton; 16 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Frances Pounders of Hamilton, Lois Hamilton of Clanton and Eunice (Reed) Mims of Clanton; two brothers, Robert (Ola Mae) Headley of Prattville and Alvin (Adeline) Headley of Montgomery.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonzo and Lula Headley; brothers, Clarence, Ernest and Renfroe Headley; and grandson, Ricky Knight.

Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, June 14 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.

Services will be held Friday, June 15 at 2 p.m. at Chestnut Creek Baptist Church with Bro. Ollie Clyde Jones, Bro. Glenn McGriff and the Rev. Oscar Mims officiating.

Interment will follow in Floyd Baptist Cemetery in Verbena.
