Movies in the Park in Thorsby will start Friday, June 1, at Richard Wood Park.

The Thorsby Fire Department is hosting the free event, and concessions will be available for sale. The movies will start at about 8 p.m. each night.

The following is a list of dates and movies to be shown this summer:

•June 1, “Soul Surfer”

•June 8, “Puss in Boots”

•June 15, “Spy Kids 4”

•June 22, Kung Fu Panda 2”

•July 6, “The Zoo Keeper”

•July 13, “Hop”

•July 20, “The Muppets”

•July 27, “Hoodwinked Too”

•Aug. 3, “The Lorax”

No movie will be shown June 29 because of the Peach Festival.

Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.
