Chilton County split their its two games on Friday, forcing a decisive third game on Saturday.

Chilton County built a 5-2 lead in Game 1 of its series against Briarwood and appeared in control with two outs in the top of the seventh inning, but the visitors struck for three runs to tie the game and send it into extra innings.

Briarwood scored a run in the top of the eighth to take the lead. Cameron Cummings led off the bottom of the eighth with a single, and Kipp Moore followed with another single.

That brought to bat Craig Headley, who has been the Tigers’ best hitter this season. Headley lived up to his reputation and stroked a double down the third base line that rolled into the corner of left field, allowing Cummings and Moore to score and ending the game.

CCHS dropped the second game, 7-2.

The game Saturday will be played at noon at Jack Hayes Field in Clanton.
