CCHS wins Panther Classic

Taking the trophy: Chilton County’s softball teams won the Panther Classic tournament.

Chilton County’s softball team won three consecutive games to claim the championship in a tournament at Jemison over the weekend.

The Tigers defeated Verbena, 18-3, in their first game of the day, and then topped Jemison, 7-2.

Holly Watts for CCHS and Shelby Lopez for Jemison both hit home runs in the game.

Brianna Cleckler was the winning pitcher. She recorded seven strike outs and allowed one walk and three hits.

Cleckler also pitched three innings in the win over Verbena, striking out six and allowing two walks.

Kadie Coker pitched in a 9-0 win over Montevallo in the third game. Coker was helped by a home run off the bat of Mary Katherine Graham.

Coker struck out five batters and gave up one hit.
