Oscar Thomas Smith Jr., 88, of Clanton, died Sunday, April 22, 2012.

He was born on Monday, June 4, 1923, in Chilton County, the son of the late Oscar Thomas Jefferson Smith Sr. and the late Julia Ann Vance Smith. He was a storeowner.

Surviving are his two daughters, Sandra Kaye (Wilburne) Connell of Clanton and Pamela Renee (Roger) Baker of Isabella; brother, James H. Smith of Coopers; two granddaughters, Emily Nicole Connell of Clanton and Brianna Caitlin Baker of Isabella; two grandsons, Ethan Cole Connell of Clanton and Britton Garrett Baker of Isabella; special friends, Cody Smith, Robi Klein, Shirley Latham, Joyce Wheeler and M.J. Davis.

His wife, Lois Marie Edwards Smith, preceded him in death.

Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, April 25 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.

Services will be held Thursday, April 26 at 11 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Harold Nelson and the Rev. William Short officiating. Interment will follow in Chestnut Creek Baptist Cemetery in Verbena.
