Pitcher Jason Price was one out away from a no-hitter as Thorsby defeated Billingsley, 10-0 in five innings, on Tuesday in a baseball area game.
Dalton Acreman recorded Billingsley’s first and only hit of the game with two outs in the fifth inning.
Price struck out 12 of the 17 batters he faced. He issued two bases on balls, but no BHS batter advanced past first base.
Matt Morgan drove in five runs for THS (14-9), and Parker Bryan scored three runs.
Both Brantley Maddox and J.R. Posey went 2-for-2 at the plate. Maddox scored two runs, and Posey drove in two.
A sacrifice fly off the bat of Price accounted for Thorsby’s 10th run, in the bottom of the fifth, and allowed the game to end early via mercy rule.
