Red Devils win tournament

Unbeaten: Maplesville’s softball team went 4-0 to win the Maplesville Invitational Tournament over the weekend.

Maplesville hosted and won a Spring Break Tournament over the weekend.

The Red Devils went 4-0 against Dallas County (16-1), Billingsley (9-1) and Verbena twice (7-3 and 16-1).

Other tournament scores were Verbena 8, Isabella 7; Isabella 8, Dallas County 2; Billingsley 8, Isabella 2; and Verbena 4, Billingsley 2.

Autumn Smith (7 innings pitched, 6 hits, 2 runs and 7 strikeouts), Alexus Goggins (4 IP, 3 H, 3 R and 4 K) and Morgan Little (6 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 8 K) all had wins for the Devils.

All nine MHS starters scored against Dallas County. Kiana Andrews was 3-for-3 with two runs batted in and three runs scored.

Against Billingsley, Morgan Little, Alexus Goggins and Sarina Gutierrez each had two hits.

Andrews lead the way at the plate in the first game against Verbena, going 2-for-3 and reaching base on an error. Alexus Goggins was the winning pitcher.

Every Devil reached base safely in the championship game against Verbena.

Little reached base four times with three hits and a walk. Andrews reached base all four plate appearances with two hits, a walk and a hit by pitch. Jordyn Graf was 2-for-3 with seven RBI.

For the tournament: Little hit .667 with a .846 on-base percentage, Andrews hit .727 with a .846 OBP and Sarina Gutierrez hit .625 with a .750 OBP.
