All parents of children who are 5 years old on or before Sept. 2, 2012 and who plan to attend Jemison Elementary School in the 2012-2013 school year are invited to come to the school for registration April 23-26.

The hours for registration are 8:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 24.

Parents may bring their children with them, but this is not required.

Necessary papers for student enrollment include certified birth certificate, original unexpired Alabama Certificate of Immunization, Social Security card and proof of residence (utility bill or lease agreement showing name and address).

A parent or legal guardian with proper legal documentation must enroll a student. The school will need a copy of custody or guardianship papers if applicable.

All of these papers must be presented at the time of registration.

Parents will also sign up during registration for a time to have the new kindergartener assessed during the summer.

A skills list will be given to parents to let them know what skills will be assessed.
