The Jemison City Council approved the purchase of a second commercial lawnmower for the city in a meeting March 19.

“Plus a payment plan,” Reed said of the purchase, “Making it more feasible for us to purchase two new mowers for the city of Jemison.”

The city’s mowers were more than 10 years old and too costly to repair when they were declared salvage items earlier this month.

Council members voted March 5 to purchase the first new mower.

In other business, the council adjusted the water bills for residents Loretta Milander and Betty Melgosa.

Mayor Eddie Reed announced again Jemison’s citywide cleanup scheduled for Monday, April 23 through Friday, April 27.

City employees will pick up all trash items except chemicals, paints, car tires and batteries.

Councilman George Brasher said residents can pay service stations to take old car tires and batteries.

Resident Jim Henderson asked Reed when maps of Jemison’s districts would be released.

Reed said he expects the rezoning maps to be released before elections in August.
