Inn of Clanton donating furniture to tornado victims

The Inn of Clanton is partnering with the American Red Cross in Chilton County to provide used furniture for area tornado victims.
“We were doing some renovations on the hotel, and we had gotten some different furniture in,” said hotel manager Ruth Roebuck. “If there’s any way we can help, we would love to be able to do that and just give back.”
Roebuck said the idea to donate the furniture came from “a realization that there were people who lost everything.”
“We do realize that some of the families are in transition right now,” she said. “They don’t have anywhere to put anything right now.”
The Red Cross will compile a list of families who have sought help.
The inn will then release old furniture one room at a time, but storage space is extremely limited, Roebuck said.
“We’re looking at about 30 rooms full of furniture,” she said. “Some of the rooms are doubles. (We are) working on storage space for furniture until families can take it.”
The inn is donating headboards, footboards, metal bed frames, lamps and chests-of-drawers.
