Jim Wadsworth, president of Wadsworth Oil Company in Clanton, presented a $3,250 check to Chilton County United Way on Feb. 29 at The Store, with Mayor Billy Joe Driver and members of United Way and the Chilton County Chamber of Commerce.

Chilton County United Way hosted an awards luncheon Wednesday, Feb. 29 for its 2011 contributors.

“We want to express our appreciation to these (donors), as well as anyone who has given to help us reach our goal as near as we can,” said Curtis Smith, chairman of the board of directors. “We haven’t reached it yet, but we’re still working.”

United Way’s goal is to reach $200,000 before the next donation campaign starts in August.

One contributor United Way recognized Wednesday was Jim Wadsworth, president of Wadsworth Oil Company in Clanton.

Wadsworth presented a $3,250 check to Chilton County United Way on behalf of Wadsworth Oil Company and The Store in Clanton.

“That was a good donation because it helped to come closer to reaching our goal,” Smith said. “We’re well on our way.”
