Rebels baseball of to 5-0 start

Thorsby’s baseball team improved its record to 5-0 with two wins Saturday and one win Monday.
Over the weekend, the Rebels defeated Sweet Water, 14-4, and Vincent, 12-4, in a game that was called after the fifth inning because of darkness.
THS won at Maplesville, 13-1 in five innings on Monday.
Parker Bryan went 3-for-4 at the plate, as did Bo Hoffman, and two of his hits were doubles.
J.R. Posey had two hits in as many at bats with one triple.
Brantley Maddox was the winning pitcher, striking out two in four innings pitched. He was relieved by Jace Maddox.
Matt Morgan, Jason Price and Jace Maddox each had three hits in the first win of the day on Saturday.
Morgan walked twice and scored three runs, Price scored three runs and drove in three runs, and Maddox accounted for three runs scored and four RBI.
THS got on the board in the bottom of the first inning when Maddox doubled and was brought home by a sacrifice fly by Brantley Maddox, but the hosts didn’t take the lead until third inning because Sweet Water scored two runs in the first and one run in both the second and third innings on starting pitcher Stephen Mims.
Mims gave up four hits and five walks in four innings pitched but struck out nine batters to earn the win.
Price struck out six while giving up only one hit and two walks in two innings of relief.
Bo Hoffman was the winning pitcher in the second game. He gave up four walks and one hit and struck out eight in four innings.
Jace Maddox struck out the side in the fifth inning before the game was called.
Parker Bryan went 4-for-5 at the plate with two runs scored and an RBI.
Hoffman and J.R. Posey scored two runs each.
