Robert Gregg ‘Bob’ Davis

Robert Gregg “Bob” Davis, age 84, of Stanton died Sunday, Feb. 5, at his home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert H. and Ruby G. Davis, and son, Robert L. Davis.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Vernell Lawrence Davis; and children, Nicky Lee (Jean) Davis of Prattville and Martha D. (Allen) Green of Stanton. Grandchildren are William B. “Buddy” Davis of Merritt Island, Fla., and Rebecca D. “Becky” (Wendell) Devereux of Prattville. Great-grandchildren are Tyler, Molly and Will Devereux.

He is also survived by extended family of seven sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law, a host of nieces and nephews, and Jean and Ame’ Hill and Kristine Farr.

He was a long-time member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and was recently honored as Deacon Emeritus. He was an educator in Autauga and Chilton counties and well known as principal of Billingsley High School, Autauga County High School and Adair Junior High School.

The family would like to thank Thomas Atcheson, Lynn Abbott, Mary Gray, Virginia Jones, Becky Roper, Amedisys and Baptist Health Hospice.

Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6 at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 5349 Alabama Highway 22, Stanton, with services at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be his nephews, and honorary pallbearers will be Thomas Atcheson and the deacons of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
