Lelia Mae Peters

Lelia Mae Peters, 55, of Jemison passed away Jan. 31, 2012, at her residence. She was born in Chilton County on July 14, 1956, the daughter of the late Arthur Varden and the late Pearl Porter Varden.

Lelia was a devoted homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.

She is survived by: husband, Kenneth Peters of Jemison; daughter, Jamie (Robert) Smith of Jemison; daughter, Samantha (Kenneth) McGalliard of Deatsville; five grandchildren; sister, Mary Sue (Bobby) Ray of Jemison; along with a host of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by: parents, Arthur and Pearl Varden; brother, Royce Earl Varden; and brother, Douglas Wayne Varden.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Feb. 2 after 6 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 3 at 11 a.m. from Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. J. Aaron Ellison officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Cemetery in Jemison.
