Closings announced for MLK Jr. Day

Clanton City Hall, Jemison City Hall, Thorsby Town Hall and Maplesville Town Hall will be closed Monday, Jan. 16 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Jemison’s council meeting is rescheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 6 p.m., and Thorsby’s council meeting will also be Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 6 p.m.

Thorsby’s garbage pickup will be running Monday morning. Maplesville’s garbage pickup will be on Tuesday.

The annual Dr. King Parade will begin at 1 p.m. from Jack Hayes Field in Clanton City Park. The parade will line up at noon.

A pre-parade event, a gospel talent search, will be held at the E.M. Henry Head Start facility at 413 South 14th Street in Clanton on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 13-14, at 7 p.m. Entry fee for the talent search is $20.
