Chilton County residents can enjoy playing football even if they’re not on a high school or college team.

Gridiron Alumni, a national organization, is accepting registration for players from Clanton, Jemison, Thorsby, Verbena and other areas.

“What we do is try to find the best rivalries in the nation and let those teams play against each other, said Chris Hall, Gridiron Alumni senior event coordinator.

The teams would play full-contact games designed for those who have played the sport in the past.

“This is a great opportunity for a guy to get off the couch,” Hall said. “It’s a good feeling to get these guys going again.”

Hall said the development of the league depends on registration.

“There’s no way to start setting the date for the game until we have guys signing up,” he said.

Gridiron Alumni has been connecting with players and scheduling games since 2010.
