Maplesville JV beats Isabella

Maplesville defeated Isabella, 38-24, on Tuesday in the first game of the tournament’s Junior Varsity Division.

The fourth-seeded Red Devils led, 17-5, at halftime, but Isabella’s Tyler Armstrong scored at the buzzer to end the third period with a 27-18 score.

The No. 5 seed Mustangs stayed within striking distance until Maplesville’s Corey Hall drained a three-pointer with 2:23 remaining in the game and was followed by four consecutive points from Anthony Moore for a 36-20 edge.

Moore led all scorers with 14 points, while Isabella’s Tyler Roper had 12 points.

Maplesville plays top-seeded Jemison at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in a semifinal game. The other semifinal will pit No. 2 seed and tournament host Chilton County against No. 3 seed Verbena at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
