Bertha Hayes Barron, 83, of Stringer, Miss. died Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011, at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, Miss.

Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 16, 2011, at Colonial Chapel in Bay Springs, Miss. Burial followed in Providence Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs, Miss. is in charge of arrangements.

Barron

She enjoyed cooking, spending time with her grandchildren, and sharing funny stories of her childhood. Home and family were very important to her. She was extremely close to her brothers and sisters. She was a longtime active member of Midfield Baptist Church in Birmingham.

She was preceded in death by parents, Ed Hayes and Roberta Ratliff Hayes; sisters, Lula May Stone and Elise Champion; and brothers, Audie Reese Hayes, Audice Hayes and William O. Hayes.

Survivors include sister, Shirley Gorsalitz of Pasadena, Texas; two grandchildren, Julie Grissom Cooley of Brandon, Miss. and Joshua Grissom of Charleston, S.C.; great-grandchildren, Jackson Morgan Grissom and Summer Elizabeth Grissom, both of Charleston, S.C.; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as several great nieces and great nephews.

Pallbearers will be Scott Cooley, Joshua Grissom, Stephen DeAngelo and Jon DeAngelo.
