Anthony Johnson’s offense and Cameron Morrow’s defense combined to give Maplesville a 51-48 win at Chilton County High School on Thursday.

The Red Devils trailed for most of the game—13-5 after the first quarter, 26-17 at halftime and 35-26 at the end of the third quarter—but Johnson caught fire in the fourth quarter, where he scored 13 of his game-high 25 points.

Maplesville’s Brandon Shields goes up for a layup but is blocked from behind by Chilton County’s Jamarcus Williams.

Johnson drained a pull-up jumper with 2:45 on the clock to give Maplesville its first lead, 42-21.

Still, Johnson’s output might not have been enough were it not for some clutch pressure defense late in the game by Morrow.

The game was tied at 48 with 18 seconds on the clock, and Chilton County had possession when Morrow stole the ball before the Tiger ballhandler could advance past the halfcourt line.

Morrow was fouled and made one free throw to give the Devils the lead.

Then, on the ensuing possession, Morrow recorded another backcourt steal.

Johnson rebounded a missed layup and put it back in to ice the game.

Dyquan Floyd led CCHS with 12 points.
