CCHS wrestler wins weight class

Chilton County High School wrestler Justyn Jackson won the 220-pound weight class in the Blue Devils Invitational meet at Moody on Dec. 30.

He’s No. 1: Chilton County High School wrestler Justyn Jackson won both of his matches in the 220-pound weight class at at meet in Moody that included 16 schools.

Jackson won both his matches, pinning Walter Wellborn’s Adam O’Bryen in the second round, and pinning William Witcher in the first round.

The wins improve Jackson’s season record to 9-5.

CCHS’s Richard Liege (120-pound weight class), Paul Shearon (132) and Caleb Smith (126) also won matches.

Dora took first place in the team competition at the event, followed by Hayden and Clay-Chalkville.

Sixteen teams competed in the meet.

Chilton County will participate in the St. James Invitational Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
