Nelda Jean Goggans Alred, 84, of Clanton died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011, at Chilton Medical Center in Clanton.

She was born Tuesday, Jan. 18, 1927, in Marion County.

She was a librarian.

Surviving are her son, Dan (Jenny) Alred of Hoover; daughter, Rebecca A. (Robert) Threlkeld of Clanton; grandson, Drew Threlkeld of Clanton; granddaughter, Emmajean Threlkeld of Clanton; two sisters, Omeda Goggans (O.C.) Holloway of Hoover and Connie Goggans Lochridge of Bexar.

Services were held Monday, Dec. 26 at 1 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rick Marshall officiating.

Interment followed in Martin Memorial Cemetery in Clanton.
