A Maplesville man was arrested Nov. 27 after the police department received a tip about someone growing marijuana in a home.

Joe Sasser, 58, was charged with manufacturing a controlled substance.

Police confiscated 259 marijuana plants from Sasser’s mobile home located off Highway 82 near Maplesville.

“Some of them were about 3 to 4 feet tall,” said Maplesville Police Chief Todd Ingram. “Glad to get it off the street. He said it was for personal use, but that’s a lot of plants for personal use.”
