Clanton council rezones property

The Clanton City Council accepted several resignations during its Monday meeting.

The council hired Rickey Nix to work in the sanitation department to replace another employee who was hired but never showed up for work.

They also voted to hire Linda Price to work part-time at the Clanton Senior Center to replace Anita Aldridge, who is moving.

The council also accepted Ray Scruggs’ resignation from the City Planning Board.

In other business, the council also held a public hearing on rezoning a piece of property on Fourth Avenue North. No one was present to speak for or against the request.

The council voted to rezone the lot at Fourth Avenue North and Fifth Street from Business-3 to Residential-1.

Robert Binion also spoke to the council and asked that work be done to improve the condition of Martin Luther King Jr. Street.
