A 10-year-old boy from Clanton, who was diagnosed with leukemia in January, has died.

Logan William Pledger passed away Friday, Dec. 2 at Children’s Hospital of Alabama in Birmingham.

Thorsby High School principal Russ Bryan said Logan’s death is difficult for everyone at the school.

“Our whole staff is saddened by the loss. We have been praying and trying to support the family,” Bryan said. “The school continues to pray for the family.”

Bryan said Logan hadn’t been in classes for several months as the Pledgers traveled to several hospitals for treatment. Logan was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on Jan. 5.

“He was a wonderful, wonderful young man,” Bryan said.

Logan is survived by his parents, William and Sarah Pledger, and two sisters, Calissa and Faith.

His funeral service will be Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. at Collins Chapel Baptist Church. Internment will follow in Collins Chapel’s cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Dec. 6, starting at 4 p.m. at Collins Chapel Baptist Church.

Family and friends shared their condolences and memories of Logan on Monday and over the weekend on the Facebook page “We Love Logan.” Tributes can also be made at caringbridge.org/visit/welovelogan.
