Thorsby girls win on road

Thorsby’s girls won in the first game on Thursday at Maplesville, 40-34.

Shardonda Cooper led the effort with 21 points, nine rebounds and four assists.

Megan Sanchez had 11 points and four steals, and Haley Barnett posted six points and seven rebounds.

“We are getting better,” THS coach Ginger Williams said. The girls are working hard at practice, so our fundamentals are improving. We still have a long way to go to reach our full potential, but we are proud of our progress so far.”

Keshia Bailey had 14 points as the MHS girls dropped its first game of its season.

Ebony Childress dropped in 12 points, and Kiana Andrews had eight points.
