Joan R. Thompson, age 78 of Clanton, passed away on Dec. 2, 2011, at her residence. She was born in Corning, Ohio on Sept. 9, 1933, the daughter of the late Henry Refinati and the late Ellen Coates Refinati.

Mrs. Thompson was a retired hand carver.

She is survived by: husband, William A. “Bill” Thompson of Clanton; son, Randall Neal Thompson of Clanton; daughter, Carol (Leroy) Hester of Clanton; granddaughter, Amanda Hester of Clanton; and brothers, James (Harriett) Refinati and Donald (Ann) Refinati of Ohio.

She is preceded in death by her son, Charles Stephen Thompson.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, Dec. 4 from 6-8 p.m. at Pinedale Assembly of God Church.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Dec. 5 at 2 p.m. from Pinedale Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Thurmond Cleckler officiating.
