The Arthritis Foundation is gearing up for its annual Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis on Sunday, Dec. 4 at the Clanton City Park youth football field.

Those interested in participating may register at the Arthritis Foundation’s Bank Night on Wednesday, Nov. 30 from 3-6 p.m. at the Clanton Recreation Center.

Teams who have raised money for the walk may turn it in that night as well.

“(It is) something exciting to do,” said Anna Blanche Young of the Arthritis Foundation of Central Alabama. “The money goes toward finding a cure; also, to help promote our mission and (it) helps us give information.”

Registration at the run/walk begins at 1 p.m. and includes a long-sleeve T-shirt.

The Santa Chase will be at 2:15 p.m. for kids 12 and under. Registration is currently $15 but will increase to $20 after Thanksgiving.

“They literally get to chase Santa for about 100 yards,” Young said.

The 5K run/walk begins at 2:30 p.m., and the one-mile family fun run/walk is at 2:45 p.m. Registration is currently $20 per person but will increase to $25 after Thanksgiving.

The event on Dec. 4 will also include health and wellness booths, Christmas music and picture opportunities with Santa.

“Our goal is also to promote what we do at the Arthritis Foundation,” Young said. “We want people to know that arthritis comes in multiple different forms. Kids can have arthritis, too.”
