Stan Benton, after serving 11 years on the board of directors for The International Association of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI), was elected by his peers on Nov. 4 as the 2012 International President.

Benton is a resident of Clanton and is retired from the city of Hoover, where he held the position of deputy director. His membership in IAEI began in 1986. Benton has held many positions in the organization, which included chapter president in 1997 and southern section president in 1997. He was elected to the International Board of Directors in October 2000 at the Southern Section annual meeting in Braselton, Ga.

Benton and his wife, Dianne, share their two children and eight grandchildren and have been man and wife for 41 years. They look forward to their travels this year, representing IAEI, to all of the six sections’ annual meetings throughout the country.

The mission statement of IAEI is: “IAEI, as the keystone of the electrical industry, is a membership driven, non-profit association promoting electrical safety throughout the industry by providing premier education, certification of inspectors, advocacy, partnerships and expert leadership in Electrical Codes and Standards development.”
