Clanton First United Methodist Church will open its doors to the community for Thanksgiving dinner Thursday, Nov. 24 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The meal is free, and everyone is invited.

The menu will include turkey and dressing with giblet gravy, cranberry sauce, ham, green beans, sweet potatoes, salads and other side items, rolls and desserts.

Organizers believe the community meal has the potential to become an annual tradition in the manner of Pancake Day, which is sponsored by CFUMC’s United Methodist Men, and Soup Day, sponsored by the United Methodist Women.

The two events are well-attended each year and have become popular social gatherings over time. The only difference is the Thanksgiving meal is shared at no cost to those eating.

“This Thanksgiving dinner provides an opportunity for individuals and families to enjoy a meal and fellowship with friends, old and new, without the expense or hard work,” said Marsha Littleton, church member. Clanton First United Methodist Church is located at 207 Eighth St. North. For more information, call the church office at 755-0490 or email adminassist@clantonfumc.org or secretary@clantonfumc.org.
