Sue Mullins Miller

Sue Mullins Miller of Sterling, Va. died at home on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011.
She was born in Clanton on Oct. 16, 1924, to Annie Gragg Mullins and Henry Clifford Mullins. She was raised in Tuscaloosa. She attended the University of Alabama and was a lifelong fan of the Crimson Tide. After World War II, she moved to Washington, D. C. where she worked on Capitol Hill as a secretary to several U.S. Congressmen and Senators.
The majority of her career was spent as executive secretary to Sen. Abraham Ribicoff of Connecticut, first in the U. S. Senate and later as his personal secretary at the law firm of Kaye Scholer.
Following her retirement, she volunteered at Reston Hospital. She was an active member of Floris United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed the Pastor’s Bible Study and the Sonseekers.
She was predeceased by her husband, William Bruce Miller.
She is survived by her daughter, Susanne Miller Jones (Todd) of Herndon, Va.; and her grandchildren, Sarah Susan Jones (Chris Cruz) of Ashburn, Va. and Douglas Todd Jones, also of Herndon. She is survived by: one brother, Henry Clifford Mullins (Norma) of Fairhope; three nieces, April Mullins, Charlotte Anne Mullins Dorgan and Mary Mullins (Mark Redditt); and one nephew, Henry Clifford Mullins III (Claudia), all of Fairhope.
Visitations will be held Nov. 13 at Adams-Green Funeral Home in Herndon, Va. from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A memorial service will be held Nov. 14 at 1 p.m. at Floris United Methodist Church.
Interment will follow at Chestnut Grove Cemetery in Herndon. Donations may be made to the Floris United Methodist Church Building Fund.
