A suspect has been arrested following the Wednesday morning burglary of a Clanton business.

At approximately 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Clanton officers responded to a call of a burglary at Chilton Propane, located at 1434 Enterprise Road.

Detective Robert Bland worked the investigation, during which it was found that money, a firearm and 43 pounds of copper tubing had been stolen.

While investigating the case, a suspect was identified and arrested later that afternoon.

Terry Wayne Murr faces charges of burglary, criminal mischief and theft of property. Murr was placed in the Chilton County Jail on bonds totaling $20,750.

The stolen firearm was recovered and returned to the owner of the business, according to Capt. David Clackley.

The department continues to see a rise in copper thefts, Clackley said.

“We have seen an increase in copper-related thefts in recent months; so far, thanks to the work of our detectives and help from the community, we have arrested or acquired warrants in most of these cases,” Clackley said.
