Maplesville sidewalk project two weeks from completion

The town of Maplesville is about two weeks away from completing its sidewalk and street lighting project.

Town Clerk Sheila Haigler said the entire project must be finished before Thanksgiving.

Construction was slightly delayed because of a drainage problem, and engineer John Stevens and the Maplesville Town Council decided that installing drainage pipes along the truck route will be less expensive.

“The pipe is supposed to be coming in on Wednesday,” Haigler said.

The contractor for the project is expected to be in Maplesville Thursday or Friday of this week.

The town’s office will be closed on Friday, Nov. 11 for Veterans Day and Nov. 24 and 25 for Thanksgiving.

Maplesville’s Christmas Parade will be on Nov. 26 at 5 p.m.
