The weeks before Thanksgiving and Christmas can be filled with chaotic cooking and distracted decorating for many families, leaving no room for holiday fun.

A visit to the Chilton County Extension Office’s Holiday Open House on Friday, Oct. 28 could help residents reduce stress and restore fun.

The open house will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Chilton County Extension Office, located at 504 First Avenue in Clanton.

County Extension Coordinator Gay West said information on the extension office’s educational programs for families will be available.

“This is just an opportunity for us to open our doors, welcome people (and) celebrate the holidays,” West said. “Programming for families is part of our area of work, so we’ll be slipping in some more educational things with the fun.”

The open house will include holiday tablescapes, mantlescapes, decorating and craft ideas, recipes, refreshments and a free holiday book for each guest.
