Families will not have to wait until Oct. 31 to enjoy Halloween festivities in Clanton.

The Chilton County YMCA is holding its annual “Halloween at the Y” event on Oct. 27 from 6-8 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public, and all monetary donations that night will benefit the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign, which helps children, teens and families pay for enrollment in YMCA programs and activities.

“We’re not actually charging anything to come in,” said YMCA’s new executive director Mary Beth Wyatt. “Anything you give is a donation.”

“Halloween at the Y” will offer games, a hayride and a costume contest, as well as other family fun attractions, Wyatt said.

“If it’s raining, it will be held in the gym,” Wyatt said. “It’s not going to be canceled because of rain.”

A “trunk-or-treat” is also part of the Oct. 27 festivities.

Individuals and businesses interested in participating in the trunk-or-treat may call the YMCA to reserve a spot, free of charge.

“The trunk-or-treat is a new thing this year,” Wyatt said. “Anybody is welcome to do that as well.”
