“Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday. Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. Cease from anger , and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil. For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the Lord , they shall inherit the earth. For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be. But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace” (Psalm 37:1-11).
Thought for the week: “Love Will Find a Way”
“When your hopelessness surrounds you like a dark, invading cloud, when your misery confounds you and your burdens wear you down… even though your heart is aching with the agony of doubt, even though advice you’re taking is not useful to you now… love will find a way. While a hundred explanations can’t explain the signs ahead, while at every destination, there are none you call a friend… Even while your problems linger, even though you’ve done your best, even while you seek the answers so your weary soul can rest… Love will find a way. Because love has no beginning, it has been here all along. Because love has never ended, love is never really gone. So beyond your fear and agony, count on love to get you through. Trust not your own abilities … God’s love, it will find you.”
Announcements
Worship service at Holly Grove Baptist Church in Jemison began with praise service of prayer, scripture and songs. Songs sung were “I Will Trust in the Lord,” “Where Would I Be Without God” and “I’m Grateful.” Scripture came from Psalm 150. Prayer was led by Pastor Dukes and Carl Singleterry.
The morning message was given by Pastor Dukes. His theme was “Things We Do That Drive People From the Church.” Paul wrote about the cure. You can’t move forward if you stumble over your own feet. The job of the Church is to win souls. That is the work of the Church. You don’t do things out of order.
How do you handle people with faults? Determine how you walk with Christ. The wrong way is working without goals or a purpose; if it’s for your glory it won’t last.
You should go beyond your task glorying God. Praising God is not work, it’s a joy — adjust your attitude and consider God in what you do. Do what you can in a spirit of worship. You are saved to serve. Don’t work in isolation; we need one another to encourage each other. We need one another to encourage each other. Work in harmony, listen to God with your heart, not your eyes.
Don’t work to get all the credit. The credit goes to God (read John 4:37).
On our sick list this week we ask you to remember in your prayers: Jerry Wilson, Lee Anna Worthey, Robert Spence, Evelyn Austin, Emma Maul, Sam and Vivian Hicks, Delores Morrow, Jessie Childs Jr. and Eliza Stewart. May God heal, strengthen and keep them in His care is our prayer.
