Bob Putman of Verbena recently won a birdhouse building contest through the website, lumberjocks.com.

The site is sort of a showcase for woodworking. Putman’s birdhouse beat out more than 50 entries from across the country.

The house is built from five different types of wood, pecan red cedar, walnut, dogwood and antique Southern heart pine.
