Parents, students and the public are invited to mingle with local business and industry representatives at LeCroy Career Technical Center’s visitation day on Monday, Oct. 17.

The Chilton County Chamber of Commerce will combine its Business After Hours event with the visitation, which lasts from 12-6 p.m.

“This is the first year we’ve opened it up to our Chamber,” said LeCroy Director Tommy Glasscock. “Our local businesses are such strong supporters of our school; it gives us a chance to pull everybody to the table.”

Glasscock said the visitation gives parents a chance to talk with teachers and view their children’s progress, and it affords students and local business representatives an opportunity to network with each other face-to-face.

“Students will display a lot of their projects,” Glasscock said. “We’re a career tech center. We may have a car on display. The welding department may have built a project such as a trailer.”

LeCroy Career Technical Center offers numerous programs including auto service technology, business education, construction, cosmetology, drafting design, health science and welding.

Visitors may tour any program at the center, which is comprised of students grades 10-12 from all six high schools in Chilton County.

“All of our programs have what we call advisory councils,” Glasscock said. “It’s a requirement for our programs to be certified.”

Glasscock said the visitation is also a chance for LeCroy to showcase its partnership with Jefferson State Community College.

“People will be here from Jeff State as well,” Glasscock said. “(Students) will also have the opportunity to talk with college representatives.”

The event is come-and-go for all visitors, and free hotdogs and door prizes will be available from 4-6 p.m.
