A 4-year-old Jemison boy was found Thursday shortly after being reported missing.

The boy was found playing in a ditch near his residence off County Road 42 West, just across from Mars Hill Baptist Church, after officers with several local agencies, including the Chilton County Sheriff’s Department, began searching for him.

“He was just running around in the yard playing, and the next thing we knew he was gone,” Lawanda Scott, the boy’s grandmother, said moments before he was found.

Scott said the boy had been missing since about 11 a.m. Thursday.

The boy was reported missing about 11:45 and was found at about 1 p.m.
