Double team: Chilton County’s Keondra Looney, left, and Jahoya Austin go after a ball during Monday’s match

Chilton County’s volleyball team fell to Brookwood on Monday, 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-13).

Brooke Lewis completed 10 serves, and Kacy Sanders had nine setting assists.

Keondra Looney and Kayla Ray each made three passes, and Looney had four kills.

The Tigers started off strong with solid defense, but the Panthers took the first set with a comfortable 8-point lead.

CCHS rallied in the second set but couldn’t close the gap before Brookwood won the set by 6 points.

“It just got frustrating,” said Heather Frederick, CCHS assistant coach.

The Tigers fought to hold the Panthers in the third set, but they seemed to lose steam toward the end, and Brookwood secured the win by a 12-point lead.

Frederick said the Tigers need to focus on “working together and just encouraging each other and bringing each other up.”

The Tigers will take on Thorsby Aug. 30 at 4:30 p.m. at Thorsby.
