The Chilton County Commission on Monday closed one road and talked about several others.

No one was present at the county courthouse to protest the closing of County Road 604, off County Road 55 near the Coosa River.

The commission also heard requests to pave a two-tenths of a mile stretch of County Road 503 near Shady Grove Baptist Church (“Hopefully by the next meeting we’ll be able to give you an answer,” Commission Chairman Tim Mims said after fellow commissioners expressed a desire to see the road for themselves) and to make improvements on County Road 151.

A resident of County Road 85 thanked the commission for the repaving her road, calling it “the prettiest road in Chilton County.”

A resident of County Road 324 appealed to the commission to find a way to run water lines to his home, but no solution was reached at the meeting.

In other business, the commission:

•Set a budget hearing for 6 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 29.

•Appointed Alton Culp, Joyce Land, Juanita Payton and Rex Edwards to the Department of Human Resources board.
