Clayton Rufus Anderson

Clayton Rufus Anderson, age 92 of Verbena, passed away on August 19, 2011, at his residence. He was born June 13, 1919, in Verbena, the son of the late S.J. and Janie Anderson.

Mr. Anderson worked as an automotive mechanic. He also served his country in the United States Army during World War II.

He is preceded in death by: wife, Mildred Anderson; parents, S.J. and Janie Anderson; brother, Elijah Anderson; sister, Vera Mae Easterling; and sister, Louise Jones.

He is survived by: daughter, Margaret Barrett of Rockford; daughter, Barbara Anderson of Hawthorne, Fla.; son, Randell (Miriam) Anderson of Millbrook; grandchild, Neil Gifford II of Hollywood, Fla.; grandchild, Christopher Wooten Sr. of Hawthorne, Fla.; grandchild, Michael Anderson of Millbrook; grandchild, Robert Anderson of Millbrook; great-grandchild, Courtney Wooten of High Springs, Fla.; great-grandchild, Christopher Wooten II of Newberry, Fla.; great-grandchild, Jason Wooten of Hawthorne, Fla.; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend appreciation and thanks to all of his friends and the staff of Southern Care Hospice.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Aug. 21 at 3 p.m. from Marbury Church of God with the Rev. Greg Jones officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Burial will follow in Chestnut Creek Cemetery in Clanton.

The family requests no flowers but that memorial contributions be made to Marbury Church of God in Marbury. The family will accept online condolences at ellisonmimsfuneralhome.com.
