Rebels win first two of the young season

The Thorsby Rebels opened with two wins on Thursday, 2-1 (26-24, 23-25, 15-11) over Central-Coosa and 2-0 (25-16, 25-11) over Sylacauga.

Sade’ Archie had 12 kills in the first match.

Sharing setting duties were Keela Lucas (seven assists) and Emily Spain (six assists).

Desiree Evans aced Central eight times, and teammate Jackie Holcomb had seven aces.

Against Sylacauga, Archie recorded seven kills and six aces.

Spain assisted on nine points, and Jennifer Spivey had four kills.

“We have a lot of work to do; however, we played very well,” THS coach Ginger Williams said. “We played together and with more chemistry on the court than we ever have.”
