Mustangs top Bears in season opener

The Isabella volleyball team opened its season Thursday with straight set wins over Dallas County and Billingsley.

The Mustangs defeated DCHS, 2-0 (25-3, 25-13); and area opponent Billingsley, 3-0 (25-11, 25-15, 25-10), in what was also the Bears’ season opener.

Against Dallas County, Isabella’s Savannah Kissel recorded 12 aces and three kills. Teammate Kinslee Mims had four aces.

Landy Griffith posted three aces and two kills, and Hayden Compton had three kills.

Kissel had 10 kills, five aces and one block against Billingsley, while Griffith had nine kills and one ace.

Compton posted seven kills, Khadijah Craig had four kills and 11 aces, and Heather Posey had 14 assists, three kills and three aces.

Allison Mims paced the IHS defense with 15 digs.
