The grass is cut. The yard lines are painted. The pre-season rankings are posted. The rivalries are ready.

Football season is days away, and fans all over the country are gearing up for another round of tailgates, sold-out stadiums and gridiron games.

The Chilton Auburn Club will join in the fun as it throws a kick-off party Tuesday, Aug. 30 at 6:30 p.m. at the Clanton First United Methodist Church Activity Center.

The guest speaker will be Rod Bramblett, the voice of the Auburn Tigers football and men’s basketball programs.

Chilton Auburn Club President Glenda Mims said the party is free to attend and will feature a relaxed, tailgating-style atmosphere complete with hamburgers and hotdogs.

“We’re going to show video highlights of the season and of the championship game,” Mims said. “All of that is going to be on as people come in.”

Guests may also sign up for membership in the Auburn Club, which is open to any fan of the Auburn Tigers.

“A lot of Auburn fans think that if they did not go to school at Auburn, they cannot be in the Auburn Club,” Mims said. “The Auburn Club is for anybody who bleeds orange and blue.

I’m not even a graduate of Auburn, and I’m the president.”

Mims said the club will auction off several prints from the 2011 national championship game.

The Auburn Club holds three meetings a year. The final meeting will be just before the Iron Bowl in November.
