Mertice Friday Gilliland, 91, of Billingsley died Monday, Aug. 15, 2011.

She was born Monday, Dec. 22, 1919, in Chilton County, daughter of the late Jasper Wade Friday and the late Lela Price Friday.

She was a homemaker.

Surviving are her two daughters, Linda (Billy) Headley of Prattville and Sherry (Freddie) Ray of Billingsley; four sons, James C.  Gilliland of Billingsley, Doug Gilliland of Theodore, Terry (Brenda) Gilliland of Billingsley and Roy (Regina) Gilliland of Billingsley; two sisters, Francis Walker of Plantersville and Irene Reid of Billingsley; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and devoted friend, Carolyn Carter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Artis Cleve Gilliland.

Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 17, at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.

Services will be held Thursday, Aug. 18 at 11 a.m. at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church with the Rev. Ricky Coburn and the Rev. Paul Atchison officiating.

Interment will follow in Pilgrim Rest Cemetery in Maplesville.
